Antonis Liakos (1947) is professor of contemporary history and history of historiography at the University of Athens http://www.uoa.gr/ , chair of the Board of the International Commission for History and Τheory of Historiography (2010-2015) http://www.historiographyinternational.org/ and managing editor of Historein (http://www.nnet.gr/historein.htm ).
Born inAthens1947, he was imprisoned by the Junta in 1969, while student of history at the UniversityofThessaloniki. Released in 1973, took his BA in 1977, and his PhD in 1984. Lecturer and assistant professor at the University of Thessaloniki from 1980 to 1990, when he was elected professor at the Department of History and Archeology at the University of Athens. Research fellow and visiting professor at the University of Birmingham (1989), European University Institute (1995), University of Sydney (1995) University of Princeton (1996, 2006), Ecole Normale Superieure (2001), member of the Board of the European Doctorate in Social History (2005-20010).

Αντώνης Λιάκος
Ο Αντώνης Λιάκος είναι καθηγητής της ιστορίας στο Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών. Γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα (1947) και σπούδασε στη Φιλοσοφική Σχολή του ΑΠΘ. Φυλακίστηκε από τη δικτατορία από το 1969 έως το 1974. Μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στην Ιταλία, διδακτορική διατριβή στη νεώτερη και σύγχρονη ιστορία στο ΑΠΘ, 1984. Δίδαξε στο Τμήμα Ιστορίας και Αρχαιολογίας του ΑΠΘ 1981-1990. Το 1988-1989 ήταν Honorary Research Fellow στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Birmingham. Το 1990 εξελέγη αν. καθηγητής στο τμήμα Ιστορίας και Αρχαιολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών και από το 1994 είναι τακτικός καθηγητής. Το 1995 ήταν Επισκέπτης καθηγητής στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστημιακό Ινστιτούτο της Φλωρεντίας, και στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Sydney στην Αυστραλία. Το 1996- 1997 ήταν Visiting Research Fellow στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Princeton, ΗΠΑ. Το 2001 ήταν επισκέπτης καθηγητής στην Ecole Normale Superieure στο Παρίσι. Συμμετέχει στο Συμβούλιο του European Doctorate in Social History. Το 2006 επισκέπτης ερευνητής για δεύτερη φορά στο Princeton. Από το 2005 είναι μέλος του Board της International Commission for History and Τheory of Historiography και από το 2010 έως το 2015 πρόεδρος. Είναι επίσης μέλος της εκδοτικής ομάδας του περιοδικού Historein/Ιστορείν.
Το ερευνητικό και συγγραφικό έργο του αφορά την νεώτερη και σύγχρονη ιστορία, ειδικότερα την ιστορία της συγκρότησης των εθνικών κρατών στην Ελλάδα και στην Ιταλία, την κοινωνική ιστορία και την ιστορία της ευρωπαϊκής ιστοριογραφίας. Το συγγραφικό του έργο περιλαμβάνει οκτώ βιβλία και πάνω από εξήντα μελέτες δημοσιευμένες σε ελληνικά, αγγλικά, γαλλικά, ιταλικά επιστημονικά περιοδικά και ειδικούς τόμους. Έχει διατελέσει μέλος της Εφορείας των Γενικών Αρχείων του Κράτους, της Επιτροπής Ιστορίας της Εθνικής Τράπεζας, του ΔΣ των Αρχείων Σύγχρονης Κοινωνικής Ιστορίας και του Ιστορικού Αρχείου του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Διηύθυνε εκδοτικές σειρές Ιστορίας στις εκδόσεις Γνώση, Θεμέλιο και τώρα Νεφέλη. Τα τωρινά του ενδιαφέροντα αφορούν την ιστορία και τη θεωρία της ιστοριογραφίας και τη διερεύνηση της ιστορίας ως πολιτισμικής πρακτικής. Ελαβε μέρος στο ερευνητικό πρόγραμμα της European Science Foundation «National Histories in Europe (NHIST) and the Cleiohres CLIOHRES.net (“Creating Links and Innovative Overviews for a New History Research Agenda for the Citizens of a Growing Europe”
